Blogger's Block

I haven't posted in three weeks, and I noticed I have lost a follower. I am assuming because I haven't been blogging. Honestly, I am so overrun with news, doom and gloom, daily chores, a major forest fire in my area, and getting ready for back to school, that I just can't think of anything to blog about that anyone would want to read.

I blog about different things, life around our homestead, some politics, canning and food. But, what do my readers want to be updated on or what do you want read about? What is interesting in our life that makes you want to stop by and browse through my thoughts? I didn't want to bore anyone with too many chick pictures, but guess what? That BO hen I think is wanting to brood again. I put a Rhode Is. Red in the nursery yesterday because the rooster is sooo hard on her that her back end is not only bare but deep, deep red from irritation and swollen, so I put her in the nursery last night. Well, today, I went out to put the gals up and RI Red was not in the pen, but BO was! Yesterday I took out 3 eggs from the nursery that she laid and when I cracked them this morning for scrambled eggs, they looked like they were on the first day or two of a new life beginning. We'll see what happens.

Anyways, I apologize for not blogging. I don't know why really. I need a break, or I am feeling overwhelmed with the news. Maybe I am just in a slump. I will try to keep up one or two posts a week now that school is starting again. Let me know what keeps you reading my blog. Recipes? Canning? Political/educational rants?

Hubby is coming home for dinner late tonight, so I best be in the kitchen and have dinner ready. I am starved!

  1. Hey, I love hearing about your chickens. If politics or education is what's on your mind, I don't mind reading about that, but that's not what I'm looking for in your blog. (Of course when news happens in your area, like the major forest fire, I appreciate first-hand accounts.) I really like the simple everyday stuff. As long as your blog keeps popping to the top of my bloglist, I'll keep reading it.

  2. Rose, I'm with John :-)
Some bloggers use their site as a daily journal. I just post when I can, on things happening around here which may or maynot be of interest to my blogger friends.
I pray that the major forest fire going on in your area is contained. We've had major fires here and many people have lost homes, farms and businesses. School starts today in our area. I'm happy, I no longer have kids in the school system. Everyone has graduated and doing their own thing in life :-)
    Have a beautiful day!

    1. Thanks, Sandy. You know, I think sometimes we just get overrun with everyday living that sometimes it's hard to actually sit down and think enough to put thoughts into words.

  3. Hi Rose,
I love hearing about your 10 acres, any equipment you use and your animals. I can never learn enough about self-reliance.
Post when you have time, blogging is not supposed to be a job, but fun and an opportunity to teach others what works and what doesn't.

    1. Thanks so much Mike. You're right, blogging should be fun. I was just so disinterested there for a while, not sure why. I like reading about what you've been up to, touche.

  4. Rose - when i make friends on the internet, i just like to hear about their daily lives. i know daily life feels boring to the people living it - but not to the ones reading it! i love to hear what my friends are doing and i love to read whatever you write about. don't fret! write about what is important to you, what you are doing and what you want to write about. i won't be going anywhere regardless of what you write!

    your friend,

    1. kymber, thanks for being a friend, I appreciate you hanging in there with me. Today was my first day back at work for one of two inservice days. I am totally not in the school mode. At all. And I have a 2nd grade sub to mentor while starting school until we hire a permanent teacher for the position. So, needless to say, I didn't get much done in my classroom today. There's always tomorrow, and the next day..... and the next day.

  5. Just blog about your life, and when you can. Reading about other folks way of living, especially far different from mine, is always interesting. Just this morning I went running along the English coast and I never left my chair..hehe. She had some beautiful photos. I love reading blogs because I learn and see many things I otherwise would not.

On a previous blog I had, my decluttering posts were my most read, not the beautiful posts on the San Diego beaches, or my quilts. I was getting tired of all the decluttering, but folks loved seeing the before and afters. Go figure.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts, Jill. I think, too, that some of my everyday posts are the most read.
