Inconclusive

DD17 and I took Cooper to the vet. Got the xray taken and she said his bones look normal, but that bone cancer doesn't always show up in xrays. Great. She prescribed rest and some anti-inflammatory meds for him. It's good news with the potential for a negative outcome. If he is still limping in 3 weeks we are to bring him back in for a follow-up xray and she'll compare the two. Well, it's better news than I was anticipating so I am happy, but realistic. Prayers for Cooper that is is just a sprain and he'll get better soon. Somehow after rereading what I wrote, I still sound pessimistic. Sorry, I guess I want a definitive answer and that's not what I got. But it is what it is, so I'll just have to deal with that.

  1. Praying for Cooper (& you too!). Hope it's just his bones not cooperating with each other.

  3. I'm praying that it's just a simple injury that cures itself. Prayers for you and Cooper. God Bless.

  4. Bless your heart. I can understand why this is a very trying situation. I realized quite a few years ago that this life is full of situations where we are waiting for an answer to something important (prayers, test results, buying a home, etc.) and we must walk out each day ... living for His glory (because it's ALL about His glory anyway).. moment by moment.. until the answer comes. 1 Cor. 10:31 I have realized that my faith is strengthened more during those 'waiting' times than any other. May HE be your vision during the days ahead.

  5. LOLM,
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, waiting builds strength and patience. My mother always said, "Lord, give me patience, and I want it right now!"

  7. After your very sad experience with Jake, I can understand the trepidation you feel about the limp being something more sinister. I'm hoping it's just a sprain as well and that there will be healing. Sometimes, sprains just take a while to heal. Let's hope the good news continues.

I am enjoying catching up on my reads and am adding your blog to my "favorites" list!

  8. Thanks, Lana. I hope you are right and my previous experience with Jake is just overshadowing my judgement. I still has a slight limp today, but not as bad as earlier this week.

  9. Did your vet check for lyme disease in your dog? Every dog in my neighborhood has Lyme and it started with limping in one back leg.

    1. That's a good thought, it briefly crossed my mind. Actually, Cooper had two, ginormous ticks on him a couple of weeks ago, so it could be a possibility. We don't usually have the kind of ticks here that carry Lyme disease, but I will certainly bring that up to the vet next time.

  10. Ticks seem to be everywhere and because of the weird weather, they are supposed to be worse than ever this year.

    1. I think you are right, ticks are going to be really bad this year. Last year, wasps were down, and this year they are everywhere. Also, we have yellow jackets on steroids! They are fat and huge. I think it will be a buggy year!
